Alumns is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal data and media content. This policy applies to all individuals interacting with our services, websites, applications, or digital platforms.

By way of due diligence and other legal norms, we take this opportunity to convey to our users to adhere to compliance with the Indian Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (as amended).

1. Data Privacy Policy

We collect and process personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and other relevant legislation. At an early stage, the enactment of the policy is subject to liability to share information with the court of law relating to the matter thereof. The court of law herein refers to the Allahabad High Court, Allahabad, India.

  • Account Data: Username, passwords (hashed), usage preferences
  • Technical Data: IP addresses, browser type, device data
  • Behavioral Data: Site usage, activity logs, preferences

  • Legal compliance, fraud detection and prevention
  • Illegal activity detection and prevention related to user data and activity

1.3. Data Storage and Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined above and as required by law.

1.4. Data Security

We are committed to ensuring the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the personal data we collect and process. Our organization implements a multi-layered security framework designed to safeguard data against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, or disclosure.

Key measures include but are not limited to:

  • Data Encryption: All data, whether at rest or in transit, is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (such as BCRYPT, AES-256 and TLS 1.2 or better).
  • Monitoring and Auditing: Continuous monitoring and regular security audits to detect anomalies, assess vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance.
  • Data Minimization and Segmentation: Sensitive data can be logically segregated through a dedicated portal for activity monitoring; only the minimum necessary data is stored.
  • Incident Response and Recovery: A robust incident response plan to promptly address data breaches or security incidents, including investigation, containment, notification, and recovery.

2. Media Privacy Policy

We respect your right to control your personal media, including images, videos, and audio files uploaded or shared via our services. However, by uploading such data/media/content, you are assumed to be responsible for your uploads. Uploaded data/media or any other content must not breach others' privacy and lawful rights. Users are held responsible for unlawful activities, and any such breach shall make users liable for the legal consequences arising from it.

2.1. Media Handling Practices

  • Media is stored securely with access controls.
  • Metadata may be stripped to protect privacy.
  • Facial recognition and biometric data are not used so far.

2.2. Consent for Media Use

We require explicit user consent before using personal media for marketing, training, or promotional purposes. By opening an account and agreeing to this policy document, you are considered to give your consent to media/content usage as described in section 1.2.

3. Data and Media Sharing Policy

We do not sell or rent your personal data or media. Sharing is conducted only under the following conditions:

3.1. Third-Party Services

We may share limited data with third-party vendors strictly to deliver our services (e.g., cloud hosting, payment gateways), under binding agreements ensuring data protection compliance.

3.2. Legal Requirements

We may disclose personal data if required by law, court order, or governmental authority in India. All such requirements are subject to the approvals/directions from Allahabad High Court only.

3.3. User Consent

We share data or media with external parties only after obtaining informed consent from the user, except where legally mandated otherwise.

5. Objectionable Data Sharing Prohibition

5.1. Prohibited Content

Users must not share, post, or transmit data or media that includes:

  • Hate speech, violence, or threats
  • Obscene or sexually explicit material
  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination
  • Content promoting illegal activities

Violations will lead to immediate suspension or termination of services and may be reported to relevant authorities. Such activities shall be considered against company policy and the user shall be held responsible for such unlawful activity.

5.2. Reporting posts and users

If you see a post or account that may violate these rules, you can use the Report option on a post's top-right menu. You may report either the post itself or the account of the member who published it. Reports are confidential: the reported person is not told who submitted the report.

  • You must be signed in to submit a report.
  • You cannot report your own posts or your own account.
  • You may submit at most one report per post and one report per member account.
  • You should provide an accurate reason; misuse of reporting may lead to action on your account.
  • Reports are stored securely for moderation review and our team is notified by email. We may remove content, warn users, or suspend accounts where appropriate.

6. Confidential and Security-Sensitive Data Protection

6.1. Governmental and National Security Data

We do not allow the sharing, upload, or transmission of data classified as:

  • Government-confidential or security-sensitive
  • State secrets or diplomatic communications
  • Data restricted by national or international regulations

Any attempt to upload or share such data will be flagged, blocked, and may be reported to competent authorities. Such activities shall be considered against company policy and the user shall be held responsible.

6.2. Cross-Border Data Transfers

All cross-border transfers of sensitive or confidential information are conducted in strict compliance with international security laws and treaties. We ensure adequate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or approved data transfer mechanisms.

You have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Object to certain data uses
  • Lodge complaints with a data protection authority

9. Terms and Conditions

  • Introduction: These Terms govern the use of the platform operated by the Company. By using the platform you agree to these Terms.
  • Eligibility: Users must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering a legal contract under Indian law.
  • Account Registration: Users must provide accurate information and maintain confidentiality of login credentials.
  • User Responsibilities: Users must not post illegal, abusive, explicit sexual acts, exploitation, non-consensual images, defamatory, harmful, or misleading content; send spam; run scams; manipulate engagement; create fake accounts; post manipulated media; engage in fraud schemes, terrorism, drugs, human trafficking, child exploitation, or violence.
  • User Generated Content: Users retain ownership of their content but grant the platform a non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute it.
  • Content Moderation: The platform may remove content or suspend accounts violating Indian laws or platform policies.
  • Intellectual Property: All platform software, branding, and design are owned by the company. Users should only post content they own or have permission to use. Copyright violations may result in content removal.
  • Cookies: The platform may use cookies to improve user experience, track preferences, and analyze usage.
  • Limitation of Liability: The company is not responsible for user-generated content or damages arising from use of the platform.
  • Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of India.
